The below, rather grainy picture is a copy of the passenger record of Victoria Sutor. For some reason this Ellis Island document is losing something in the copying process. (I will keep trying to produce a clear picture.) It shows the following information: Victoria Sutor, Austria Polish, from Chabowka, (Poland) arrived, April 28, 1903, age 23, female, single. The ship was the Noordam, departing from Rotterdam. The manifest line number is 0021. She traveled third class.

And so began the history of one strong woman who's only wish was to worship at the church of her choice. It was Freedom of Religion that drove Victoria on her odyssey to the United States. It was that and nothing more. She arrived with $3 and a ticket to her relative, "Cicela" who is listed as living at 415 Main Street, Minneapolis, Minn. Amazing.
